Investigation of ferrocene-based subvalent compounds – running

The chemistry of stable singlet carbenes is intensively studied due to their unique structures and their applicability as catalyst in organocatalytic reactions. Currently there is a great interest in the carbene chemistry towards functionalized carbenes, since their variable properties are corresponding with the proper function groups, hence adequate compounds for the desired applications are able to be prepared. As a new class of functionalized carbenes, ferrocenophanes are attracting attention due to their redox-active 1,1’-ferrocenediyl backbone. The goal of the project is the further investigation of the properties of these compounds.
